Everything about this painting is restful - if you listen closely you just might hear the soft and gentle "sleep" sounds of those napping on the table. Some tulips are more cooperative and alert than others I find. But then again I must take responsibility for the hours I insist they keep at times. Posing for portraits is not easy I am certain they'd report if they could.
